H.E Joshua Irungu today ( 21/2/2015) handed bursary cheques to each ward at a colourful ceremory in Nyahururu stadium. The ceremony was attended by all MCAs, Beneficiary, University student and members of public. Each ward will receive Ksh 3 million for the bursary.
Laikipia County has received communication equipment as part of National Optic-Fibre Backbone Infrastructure (NOFBI). The brand new equipment from Belgium will enhance connectivity and reduce cost. It will improve Voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) and video conferencing
The ministry of education, youth, gender and ICT together with SNV Netherlands has finally finished GIS mapping of all schools in Laikipia. An online platform has now been generated. The final launch was done today (20th February 2015) by H.E Joshua Irungu. The county government ICT department will manager the system. The exercise is led by Chief officer of the ministry Mr Ndiritu Chiuri together with Ms Leah Njeri of SNV.
County to pay staff arrear
The county government will pay Kshs.47M-arrears owed to the ex-local authority employees.
H.E Joshua Irungu announced this during a meeting today (18/2/2015) with all the affected workers. However, the Governor requested them to use that money wisely.
First Lady Margaret Kenyatta today (22/1/2015) handed over the 18th mobile clinic to the county government of Laikipia as part of her beyond zero campaign. She said that her project, Beyond Zero campaign gives Kenyans the opportunity to contribute to the reduction and eventual end to mother-to-child transmission of HIV during childbirth. She was speaking at Central Park in Nanyuki town in Laikipia County. She was received by H.E Joshua Irungu the governor Laikipia County, Laikipia County senator Hon GG Kariuki, Laikipia East MP Hon Mutahi Kimaru among other leaders and county government of laikipia staff.

The County Government of Laikipia was on 20/11/2014 feted as the best performing public procurement entity in the country. This was during the County Procuring Entity of the Year Award Ceremony held yesterday ( 20/11/2014) at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre, Nairobi. The three days event brought together other procurement entities from five member countries of t/he the East African Community./
The assessment criteria included adherence to the reporting requirements, consistency in procurement processes, the inventory among other parameters as laid down by the Public Procurement Oversight Authority.
Present to receive the Award was the county Governor, Joshua Irungu, County Executive Member of Finance and County planning, Mr. Joel Wamichwe, Trade and Enterprise Development Jane Putunoi, The County Head of Supply Chain Management Mr Paul Njenga, the Chief of Staff John Wambugu among other senior county officials drawn from both arms of the Government.
The Governor received the award from the PPOA Director General, Mr Morris Juma who took that opportunity to congratulate the winners for demonstrating high level of professionalism and adherence to the set procurement processes.
Speaking to journalists after receiving the award, the Governor reiterated his resolve to conduct government businesses in the right way for the sake of efficient service delivery to the people of Laikipia.
The County received this award just a week after a cross section of business men in the county alleged flawed awarding of tenders. Claim which were refuted by the procurement department as untrue since the tender they were claiming as having been awarded was still open and running after advertising on two widely read dailies. This tender closes on 25th November 2014. The county government adverises any tender exceeding 4 millions Shillings.
